Boston Community Leadership Academy is a Boston Public High School located in Hyde Park. Budget cuts in recent years have resulted in the loss of the school librarian and elective classes such as chorus and theatre arts.
The goal of this 2nd Annual 5K Fundraiser is to raise money for:
*Budgets for Community Action Seminar and student-led Clubs
*Community-building activities such as Thompson Island retreats
This 5K Fundraising Walk represents the main fundraising drive for the year, so if you are looking to support BCLA this year this is your chance!

During April Vacation BCLA Senior, Porfirio Reyes, and Ms. Boston participated in a weeklong service trip to Marshall, NC with 15 teens and 4 adults from St. Stephen’s Youth Programs. They worked with the Community Housing Coalition, which connected their group to a family in need on home repairs, cleanup of their land, and support with other projects.
Porfirio helped replace the family’s roof, chopped and stacked fire wood for the winter, and hauled truck loads of scrap metal and other materials to the dump to help make the grounds safe for the family’s two-year old grandchild who they care for. He also was able to experience the incredible natural resources of the area by going white water rafting, hiking on the Appalachian Trail, exploring incredible waterfalls, and of course, running!
